The Practice
My practice unfolds at the intersection of memory, materiality, and sustained reflection. Over more than two decades within the Indian contemporary art ecology, I have developed a research-oriented approach that resists immediacy in favour of contemplative accumulation.
I hold a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the Government College of Art, Chandigarh, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, Jammu. My formation was further informed by structured engagement with craft traditions, including pottery — an experience that sharpened my sensitivity to material behaviour, surface tension, and the intelligence embedded in process.
"I approach the canvas as a site of temporal sedimentation — where memory, materiality, and intuition enter into negotiation."
My work has been presented across significant national platforms, including AIFACS, Jahangir Art Gallery, India Habitat Centre, Punjab Lalit Kala Akademi, Chandigarh Lalit Kala Akademi, and Domimal Art Gallery, alongside participation in international and digitally mediated exhibitions.
Within my practice, painting functions not merely as a medium but as a discursive and speculative field. Through layering, erasure, and revision, I allow the image to emerge gradually — shaped by embodied experience and sustained reflection rather than predetermined resolution.
